Regarding horses that seems to require that YOU the trimmer hold up its feet… my horse does this and I bought a Hoofjack from Equine Innovations.
Some horses just seem to be very disconcerted about not having the raised foot fully supported. My horse is a leaner and I saw the inventor of this cradle style hoof stand demonstrate how to use it on a horse at the Western States Expo last June. Shortly after learning to trim myself I became a believer. It’s an absolute life-saver. It’s lightweight, so be sure to have one foot on the stand when using it.
I highly recommend this stand, it was worth every penny!
