Replacing the rubber cap
Replacing the rubber cap on your Hoofjack® straight post.
There will come a time in the life of your Hoofjack® that you will need to replace parts due to wear and tear.
Step One: Removing the old cap.
If the cap is old enough to need to be replaced it will probably slip off pretty easily, but in case it does not just give it a pull while twisting.
Step Two: Electrical Tape.
Now you might think that electrical tape has no place on a Hoofjack®, but we have found over the years that a little black tape wrapped around the end of the post will help keep your rubber cap from slipping off.
Once you have pulled the rubber cap off check the condition of the tape. If it’s a worn out you can add a little more or just replace it. Two or three times around with the tape should be enough. If your cap keeps slipping just add a little more.
Step Three: Putting the new cap on.
The rubber goes back on basically the same way it came off. Twist and push the cap until it is on as far as you can get it. Just to be safe I always tap the rubber cap on a table top to make sure the cap is seated.
